REMEMBERING WHEN
Johnny Wilson

I met Gary McGill  on my second day of college when I was about 18. They weren't in the same classes but they liked the same music and that's how they got talking and have been friends ever since.

I was having a lot of arguments with my mum and dad like most people at that age. We just weren't getting along and I left home because of it.  I met Gary that night at the pub and told him what happened with  and that I had no where to go. I found out later that Gary was  worried sick about me and went home and told his Mum and Dad. Johnny went mental because he didn't want me sleeping in the streets. My dad got dressed and started driving all over Hamilton at 1.30 am until he eventually found me at Hamilton bus station sleeping in a bus shelter. After a lot of talking Johnny convinced me to come and stay with them until I got things sorted out.

I stayed for about a week and during that time Johnny gave me a lot of advice and took me out different places and treated me like another son.

It was all because Liz and Johnny  helped me and talked to me that I was able to work things out with my Mum and Dad and now we are closer than ever.

I didn't see much of the McGill's after that.  I moved to London and then to Reading England. When I heard Johnny died I was devastated.

I visited the McGill's  and met "little" Debbie again. This time she was all grown up. We have been together 9 months and got engaged in November.

I will always remember how good Liz and Johnny were to me. Johnny was never all dadsey and proper; he was just like one of the guys he treated everyone the same, he loved to have a laugh with everyone. He would never hear of anyone out on the streets if he could help he would cause that's just the sort of person he was.
